Ashley Smith, Advisory Council Member
The CURESZ Foundation hosts two support groups throughout every week.
On Sundays, everyone is welcome to join us at 6pm Eastern for a support group led by our “Advisory Council” who are people in full recovery from schizophrenia, as well as a few parents of loved ones in full recovery. We invite families and people who are in any stage of their recovery journey or who are struggling to join the call and ask the council questions about their own experiences of living with schizophrenia. We accept questions about how to get a person with schizophrenia who is refusing treatment to accept it, how to interact with the criminal justice system, how to build a stronger relationship with a family member with schizophrenia who is struggling, etc.
See some of our Advisory Council members. Most people attending these Sunday meetings are either living with schizophrenia or have loved ones who do.
On Wednesdays, Leif Gregersen and Chelsea Kowal co-facilitate a support group at 6pm Eastern primarily for people with lived experience. While anyone is welcome, this group is targeted to people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression or anxiety.
If you would like to sign up for either of these meeting, please contact CURESZ.
From Stephanie: “Thank you so much for inviting me to the support group last week. I was touched by all that people are going through. And also impressed by helpful responses from those with experience. There are so many questions around this illness and so few answers. This support group is a comfort as well as a source of insight.”
