Chelsea Kowal, MS

Chelsea Kowal graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Bioengineering from Syracuse University in 2012. In 2013, she completed her Master’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering (specifically Neural Engineering) from University of Florida. 
 
Chelsea has been hospitalized multiple times due to mental illnesses and disabilities. She is currently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and schizophrenia. However, her last hospitalization was in June 2020, after she started clozapine, which enabled her to achieve full recovery. Chelsea is currently an intern at two organizations dedicated to helping people with mental illnesses and substance use disorders. She is also currently applying to PhD programs where she hopes to continue studying engineering. Read Chelsea’s full story here.
